Hello! My name is Kate. And this is Mike. He is my brother. We are Ukrainians. In Ukraine families are not very large. As a rule, a typical one consists of four people: a father, a mother and two children. However, there are a lot of families today where there is only one child. My grandma and grandpa live in the village. They have got a nice house and a vegetable garden. We always help our grandparents.

My sister is the most helpful. We enjoy spending weekends together. We also have a tradition to celebrate all holidays together and we try to keep it.

My name is Lily. I was born in Ireland. My dad is Irish and my mum is English, but we are all British. I have got a sister who is only twenty minutes older than me. Her name is Mary and we are twins. We are very close. I think we could understand each other before we were born. Mary and I have got the same friends and hobbies. I can’t say that a twin sister is always an ideal best friend. We often have different ideas and opinions.

Tim is my best friend. He is ten. He is honest and easy-going.

He can play the guitar and play tennis very well. He attends our tennis club and participates in all the school competitions. Tim is very helpful and friendly. I can always ask him for advice when I need.

It’s so important to have a good friend!

I would like to study with clever people. They are full of ideas and know a lot of things.

A: I haven’t seen you for ages! How are you?

B: To tell the truth, I have got lots of friends but my best one is Oxana.

B: She is clever, lively and attentive. She likes a good joke. What about your friends, Max?

A: Oh, I have got two best friends. Taras and Tim. They are my neighbours.

B: What are they good at?

A: They are good at sports, especially swimming.

В: I see... What are they like?

A: They are helpful, hard-working and clever at the same time. It is so fantastic to have best friends!

Who is a friend?

Firstly, this person laughs and cries with you, understands and guides you. Secondly, it is a girl or a boy who shares the same hobbies with you. As for me, I have got a friend. His/her name is Oleh/Oxana. He/she is 10 years old. He/she is clever, kind, helpful and lively. His/her hobby is collecting coins. We often play in the fresh air, ride bikes or watch TV together.

Lesson 5

Ex. 1 p. 12-13

Speaking about a good quality life I can’t but say about things that must be involved to the list: sharing things with classmates, visiting new places, a healthy way of life, spending more time in the fresh air.

Meeting friends, studying, going swimming, attending Drama Club, spending time with her family are important for Kim.

As I have understood, this boy has got two grandfathers and they are different. The first grandfather, who lives in the city, is a businessman and the second one, who lives in the country, is a farmer.
