School is the traditional place for acculturating children into our national life. Some students like school, others don’t but they all study for eleven years and gain knowledge by doing different tasks. I think that the most important role of school is giving knowledge. I can say that my school gives such knowledge, and that’s why I’m happy at school.

School is not only a place of education, it is a place where we develop our relationships, increasing tolerance and mutual respect of one another among our classmates. The main purpose of modern school is to create a supportive and caring atmosphere for students.

Moreover teachers play an important role in our education, and when we remember our school years we usually remember our teachers, if they were fair and intelligent or not. An ideal teacher must be positive and trustworthy.

However I think that sometimes we have too much homework. But I believe, in many subjects, homework is totally unnecessary, because it doesn’t do me any good. I think it’s really stupid to copy from a textbook, and there is no point in duplicating the textbook. It’s just reinventing the wheel. And if we could get rid of unnecessary homework, we would have more time to take up hobbies and interests. I wish we didn’t have much homework. I hope that my dream will come true.

1. Because pupils became silent even when Miss Dove just gazed on them.

2. Children called their teacher “the terrible Miss Dove”.

3. After the bell they didn’t move and talk, they waited her permission to close the books and leave the classroom in silence.

4. She left naughty pupils after lesson and made them write on the blackboard what they must or mustn’t do.

5. When Miss Dove looked at her children she often remembered her pupil that finished school many years before.

6. She allowed Randy to read his brother’s letter, because she thought it was very useful for pupils to hear a letter of such a brave man.

7. His ship had been bombed and he appeared on a raft in the ocean. When people found him, he was almost dying.

8. He wrote that he was suffered a lot on the raft, and it was almost as difficult in the ocean as it had been at Miss Dove’s lessons, but the patience that he had been taught by Miss Dove saved his life.

9. Randy’s face became very red because his brother asked him to kiss Miss Dove.

10. The kiss was compared with a medal. I agree with this comparison, because Miss Dove taught them how to be patient and enduring, and all this saved his life.
